When entering a listing in Matrix, you may see a field called "Waived Agent." This article explains what it means and when to use it.
What Does "Waived Agent" Mean?
A waived agent is a listing agent who is not a member of MLS Now. This situation can occur when:
- The listing agent belongs to a different MLS (some agents are members of multiple MLSs).
- The broker who owns the listing is a member of MLS Now, but the individual agent handling the listing is not.
Because the listing belongs to the broker — not the agent — the listing can still be submitted to MLS Now. However, the person entering the listing must indicate that the listing agent is not an MLS Now member by marking Waived Agent = Yes.
Quick Reference
- Waived Agent = Yes — The listing agent is not a member of MLS Now (e.g., they belong to a different MLS).
- Waived Agent = No — The listing agent is a member of MLS Now. This is the default for most listings.
When Do I Set Waived Agent to Yes?
Set Waived Agent to Yes only when the agent named on the listing does not hold an active MLS Now membership. If the agent is a current MLS Now member, leave this field set to No.
If you are unsure whether an agent is a member of MLS Now, contact the MLS Now Help Desk at help@mlsnow.com or call (216) 485-4100.
