Overview
Reverse Prospect is a Matrix feature that automatically matches your active listings against saved buyer searches from other agents. When a buyer's search criteria matches your listing, Matrix notifies you — giving you a list of agents whose clients may be interested. It's a built-in way to market your listings directly to buyer's agents.
How Reverse Prospect Works
When an agent saves a buyer search in Matrix, that search is stored in the system. Reverse Prospect compares your listing's details (price, beds, baths, location, etc.) against those saved searches. Any search that would return your listing as a match is surfaced as a potential buyer lead.
Running Reverse Prospect on a Listing
- Log in to Matrix at now.mlsmatrix.com.
- Find your listing by going to My Matrix > My Listings or by running a search for your MLS number.
- Open the listing detail sheet by clicking on the listing.
- Scroll down to find the Reverse Prospect link, or look for it in the listing action buttons at the top of the detail sheet.
- Click Reverse Prospect to see a list of agents whose saved buyer searches match your listing.
Contacting Matched Agents
The Reverse Prospect results show each matching agent's name, brokerage, and contact information. From this screen you can:
- Email agents directly – Select one or more agents and click Email to send them a notification about your listing.
- View the matching search criteria – See which fields of the buyer's search matched your listing, so you can tailor your outreach message.
Tips
- Run Reverse Prospect as soon as a listing goes Active to immediately reach agents with matching buyers.
- You can re-run Reverse Prospect after a price reduction to notify agents whose buyer searches now match the new price point.
- Reverse Prospect only matches against saved searches — buyers who have not been set up with a saved search will not appear.
- This feature is a great talking point in listing presentations to show sellers how proactively you market their home within the MLS.
